Cognita schools across the world have proudly taken part in CNN International’s Call to Earth Day 2025, continuing a shared commitment to environmental learning and action. The theme for this year — Guard Your Green Space — focuses on protecting and revitalising the natural places that support biodiversity, wellbeing, and school and wider community life.

Throughout this year’s initiative, students have been exploring how thoughtful changes close to home can make a lasting difference. From restoring local habitats to growing food in innovative ways, their projects highlight the importance of nurturing green spaces for future generations.

In Mexico, students at Colegio Olinca have begun installing a hydroponics system within the school grounds, developing a resource-efficient way to grow fresh produce while learning about sustainable agriculture. Meanwhile, in Kuwait, Grade 5 pupils at Dasman Bilingual School are planting trees as part of a leavers’ legacy, reinforcing a long-term connection between students and the nature they help protect.

At St Andrews International School, Green Valley in Thailand, learners have taken part in a local beach clean, helping to keep plastic waste out of the ocean. And in the United Kingdom, North Bridge House Senior School & Sixth Form Hampstead students have been filming some live segments with CNN, showcasing their redesign of part of their school grounds to create a productive allotment, providing ingredients for future school meals.

These initiatives demonstrate how young people are stepping up to defend the green areas that matter most to them — both in the classroom and beyond.

Jamie Delaney, Cognita’s Head of ESG and Group Ethics & Compliance Officer, said:

“Call to Earth Day gives students the chance to take real environmental action while strengthening their connection with the world around them. Protecting our green spaces is vital for the planet’s wellbeing — and theirs.”

We are delighted to continue our collaboration with CNN International, with student achievements to be shared across Call to Earth platforms throughout November.
