The International School Ho Chi Minh City – American Academy in Vietnam has been using data and learning analytics to improve, amongst other areas, the reading skills of their mostly English as an Additional Language (EAL) student population. Dr. Alex Aristizábal, Associate Director of Teaching and Learning at International School Ho Chi Minh City – American Academy, shares their approach and findings in the academic journal, GIST Education and Learning Research.

This paper is an invitation for regular K-12 classroom teachers to explore the field of learning analytics and recognise that it is possible to improve student learning by digging into the data to derive information that can be used to inform, adjust and adapt the curriculum and instruction to the needs of the students.

You can read Dr. Alex Aristizábal’s paper in full here: Using learning analytics to improve students’ reading skills.
