High-quality teaching and learning (HQTL) lies at the heart of an enriching educational experience, ensuring every student receives the support and engagement they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

When it comes to defining HQTL, the diversity of Cognita’s community offers a truly global view on this important topic in education.

At Cognita, we are dedicated to prioritising the student voice in everything we do. This is especially important at a time of rapid change that is transforming children’s learning experiences. That is why, between September-November 2024, we asked students across five of our schools about what high-quality teaching and learning means to them.

It is clear from this report that schools have much to gain from engaging students in important conversations about the future of education. HQTL is not defined by a single approach but rather by a combination of strategies that recognise individual learning needs, encourage deeper thinking, and foster meaningful relationships.

A heartfelt thank you to Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai, The British School of Barcelona, Charterhouse Square School, Stamford American School Hong Kong, and Colegios Dunalastair.
