ABOUT Charterhouse Square School, London, UK

Charterhouse Square is a non-selective, co-educational independent school based in the City of London for students aged 3-11 years. The school has excellent transport links, with the Elizabeth line, Farringdon mainline and Barbican tube all within a 5-minute walk.

With a friendly and unpretentious approach, Charterhouse Square School offers education from Nursery and Early Years through to Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

At Charterhouse Square School we believe a happy and stimulating learning environment is fundamental to academic success. Students achieve exceptional academic results at 7+ and 11+ from a broad and balanced curriculum, with a strong emphasis on numeracy and literacy but with ample time also dedicated to physical education and the arts.

With excellent teaching, superb pastoral care and a warm, friendly and stimulating environment, every child leaves Charterhouse Square School with a love of learning, which, combined with confidence and social skills, will ensure they make the very best of life’s opportunities.

“The curriculum is outstanding. Pupils enjoy superb lessons that excite their interest and they greatly enjoy their learning.”

“The wholly inclusive ethos of Charterhouse Square is exemplified by the physical education curriculum aim of helping every child to feel special and find something they can excel at.”

“Excellent lessons are grounded in teachers’ expert knowledge and superb preparation. Teachers have very high expectations of all pupils.”

“Pupils and teachers demonstrate informal, yet respectful, relationships. Lessons contain lots of humour and an exceptional level of challenge to extend pupils to their maximum ability. As a result, the classroom is a very happy and purposeful environment.“

Head/Principal

Caroline Lloyd
Headmistress

Caroline qualified with a BEd (Hons) with QTS in 1994 from Exeter University and taught all year groups from Nursery to Year 6 at Charterhouse Square for 15 years.

After leaving to start a family, Caroline returned six months later on a part-time basis as she missed teaching so much. When it was acquired by Cognita 10 years later, Caroline was delighted to be able to return as Headmistress to the school she describes and runs as one happy family.
