Long Close School achieves their best results ever
Yet again Long Close School in Upton, Slough has achieved an excellent set of GCSE results with 100% of pupils achieving grades A*- C in 5 GCSEs or more. This is particularly remarkable as the school is academically non selective and only offers academic subjects to their students.
Individual highlights include some truly outstanding results with Bernadette Morrison 4As & 4Bs, Maneesha Heer 2As & 6Bs and Hannah Akhtar 1A*, 2As and 4Bs.
New Head Teacher, Mr Brendan Pavey, who has joined Long Close from Shiplake College, is delighted with the results saying, ‘it is common knowledge that Education Secretary, Mr Gove, had instructed the Examination Boards to make the GCSE examinations more rigorous and academically challenging this year and still the pupils at Long Close have managed to achieve some wonderful results that far outstrip the national average. This is testament to the hard work of the teaching staff and the bespoke curriculum that treats each of them as individuals’.
Mr Pavey assumes the Headship at the start of this academic year following Mr David Brazier’s move to Head Teacher at St James Senior Boys School, Ashford, Surrey.
