London calls for Chilean exchange students

Cognita students from Chile toured the cultural highlights of London as part of their six-week International Exchange Programme to Britain.

Cognita runs two Chilean exchange trips to Britain each year and visiting the capital city is always a high point. The current group of 23 children from Cognita’s Pumahue and Manquecura schools, accompanied by their teachers Jorge Ramos, Carolina Órdenes and Carolina Paz, enjoyed London in the company of two teachers, Sara Hamnett and Claire Thompson, from Cognita’s UK boarding school, Chilton Cantelo, in Somerset.

After taking in the London Eye with its stunning panoramic views of the city, the group visited a range of iconic landmarks and monuments, from Parliament Square and Big Ben to Downing Street and Buckingham Palace. They are pictured above outside the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square and below on Westminster Bridge.

Based at Chilton Cantelo throughout their six-week trip, the Chilean students have undertaken studies and focussed particularly on building their English language skills. They have also joined in with co-curricular activities that are a regular feature of student life at Chilton Cantelo as well as taking day trips such as that to London.
