The pupils, parents and staff at Duncombe are celebrating following the award of ‘outstanding’ in every category for both the preparatory school and its nursery, Treetops, following a visit by inspectors from the School Inspection Service, the agency responsible for the inspection of independent schools.

Headmaster Jeremy Phelan said: ‘We are very proud that Duncombe was judged to be ‘outstanding’ in each of the seven stringent SIS standards – a rare accolade. It is a tribute to the hard work of the whole school community and is confirmation that Duncombe is clearly achieving our aim of providing every pupil with the best preparatory experience.’

The glowing report states that: ‘Duncombe School is highly effective in achieving its aims. The quality of education that is provided to meet the pupils’ individual needs, including the children in the Early Years Foundation Stage, is outstanding.

In particular it highlights the excellent curriculum, pupils’ exceptional progress, the high quality of the pastoral care and the school’s provision for pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
