10 year old Cognita student from London designs cover of national magazine

Philomene Lloyd, aged 10 from Charterhouse Square School in London, part of the Cognita group, has won a competition to design the front cover of a national children’s current affairs magazine. Philomene’s design to convey the World Environment Day theme of ‘I’m with nature’ is currently the front cover of The Week Junior.
The competition, run by STABILO, received hundreds of entries. Philomene’s winning design (pictured in full below) was chosen due to its demonstration of great sensitivity to the issues affecting our world today.
Philomene is a passionate artist who loves to spend her weekends being creative, which is evident in her beautifully positive design. On winning the competition, Philomene said “I am so happy that the judges liked my drawing. I can’t believe it’s on the front of a magazine I read all the time!”
Caroline Lloyd, Headmistress at Charterhouse Square School, said “It’s critical for young people to engage with the international news agenda. Awareness of the wider world leads to active involvement as a global citizen. At Charterhouse Square School and within Cognita as a worldwide group, we are keen to help children develop a truly global mindset as a core life skill they need for success now and in the future.”
